Alpha Amirrachman (b.1970) is a writer. He holds Ph.D. from the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), the Universiteit van Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2012) with dissertation on peace education in the Moluccas, Indonesia and M.Phil.from the School of Policy and Practice, Faculty of Education and Social Work, the University of Sydney, Australia (2004) with thesis on education decentralization in Indonesia. Alpha is affiliated with Sultan Ageng Tirtasaya University and Maarif Institute in Indonesia. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) in Leiden (Feb-Sep 2012) producing a documentary on education and youth in Indonesia at the audiovisual department of the KITLV. He is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore writing and researching on education decentralization in Indonesia.
